Corner View - Typical Souvenir

Photobucket
Corner View is hosted by Jane at Spain Daily.
Join us as we travel the world each Wednesday ...

This week's theme ... "Typical Souvenir of Your City"

OK people ... I live in Australia so you KNOW it's going to have something to do with KANGAROOS !

I didn't go out to the tourist shops and photograph the cheapie things you can buy ... I decided to post this video of my daughter and one of her many encounters with a kangaroo. Don't worry, she was only frightened not hurt. And this is the only time this has ever happened. We've patted many many many kangaroos before and since this happened a couple of years ago !

We think the kangaroo was playing ...

And a few photos from when we first arrived on the coast and used to go to the zoo once a week ... Sorry they are smaller than usual. I shot in a much lower resolution back then !

Happy Wednesday !

I'll be by to visit during the next couple of days ! Takes me that long to get round to all of you ... but I love visiting each week ... you all live in such interesting places !!

They are cute. Glad Alia wasn't hurt, but that was quite surprising!

Sherry October 7, 2009 at 7:23 AM

Oh your poor daughter...that would be so shocking..especially when they are usually so friendly. Reminded me of some children in the playground..the rough ones who just like to push around!

As for all the "this photo is currently unavailable" and you don't use flickr, that is really strange. I've never seen that happen before.

Well I wish I could see your blog on my pc to help you...we were told that it will probably be tomorrow when we get internet at home! Yay! Since I am viewing your blog via my phone I can only guess what's happening...I'd say Flicker is spamming you or someone else is. And if I had internet at home I'd view your site's source to see exactly where its coming from. Then I'd recommend you delete that spammers embedded code/msg.

As for Your CV, I remember Alia and the Kangaroo, that was a scary moment! But i'm glad it was only a playful little guy and that Alia was not hurt :)

Kangaroos are so cute!

Well I guess that Kangeroo was looking for a fight. Bully! They are pretty interesting creatures. I saw a program on them the last flight I took about how they can care for one that is just out of the pouch, have one still in the pouch and another one growing to become a baby in the pouch. However, if the conditions are not right the baby will stop growing and wait until the conditions are better to begin growing again. Isn't that cool.

So cool! I have never seen a kangaroo! Your poor girl, I think he was just playing too, but it must have been scary!

Crescent Moon October 7, 2009 at 9:23 PM

I had no idea you could just walk up to kangaroos and pet them like that. I'm glad your little girl didn't get hurt.

The picture of your daughter feeding the kangaroo, and in this composition would be a lovely postcard with "greetings from Australia" in the white!

Jodi October 7, 2009 at 10:12 PM

Oh brother. She'll put up her dukes next time. Is that rolling of the fists a frontrunner to "I'm gonna give you and jab"? Great CV picks and nice work to you for being so calm in the video!

That is some lively souvenir!! I'm sure he was playing, but I'd have dropped the camcorder too and run to the rescue! Glad child and souvenir were ok.

One of the highlights of my trip to Australia was when my daughter got to hug a koala. It took us ages to find a wild kangaroo.

Anonymous October 8, 2009 at 12:34 AM

wouhaou... effrayant !!! I've never seen kangaroo except in zoo... lucky you are !!

caitlin October 8, 2009 at 1:26 AM

I am surprised to see a kangaroo so close up, their faces look different. They are pretty cute though. Great post, very interesting.

Amy Bradstreet October 8, 2009 at 1:52 AM

Oh wow, that's scary and I'm glad your daughter is okay. The kangaroo rubbing it's belly cracked me up, too. Yet another fascinating corner of the world, thanks for sharing your view!

we were in oz this last summer (winter for you) and I sooo enjoyed the kangaroos .... I even held a koala (I'm sure that's commonplace for you) but it is probably my favorite souvenir memory of our trip :)

(my CV is HERE)

I wish I could say I know how to fix the background problem... I found your blog thru the comment section on the OurBloggerTemplates and I'm having the same issue with my blog.

My guess is that the templates were linked to photos hosted on Flicker and have since been removed or transferred to a different location.

I've left several comments with them but have yet to hear any response. I was hoping for an easy fix, but I might be left with downloading the template again and starting from scratch.

I've never visited Australia but would love to. Maybe I should stay away from the kangaroos though. ha. Thanks for sharing the video and pictures.

Cate October 8, 2009 at 4:48 AM
