Snowpeas

 photo DSC_0063-1_zpsfa4a6bd1.jpg

Our snow peas have flowered!
I'm super excited as they are pretty much the only thing, besides some lettuce,
and some tomatoes that are STUNTED, that I've planted this year.

We are thinking about doing some reno's on the back patio and that means one of the
garden beds will be re-located.  I see no point planting in the current bed if
it is just going to be pulled out!!

In the Garden ...

Photobucket

We've been thinking and planning and goal setting and making changes around here in recent weeks. A lot of budget talk and figuring out how we can meet the goals we have for our family. One way that we are looking at saving is by getting a good crop of veggies growing in our little garden beds. Yesterday we sat down with a list of what we should be planting between now and January and made a plan. Rory drew out our garden beds and we sectioned them off with what needs to be planted where. We read companion planting guides and looked at the most amazing book that I found at the library.

I'd like a copy of it but it's about $80 so I'm going to have to get those veggies growing ... maybe with some of the savings from our first harvest, I can buy the book. Til then, I'll just have to keep checking it out of the library !! The little 'blurb' on the front of the book says "A comprehensive guide to the cultivation, uses and health benefits of over 200 food producing plants." Seriously. Good book !!

I'll keep you posted. We've ordered a $100 Bunnings gift card with points we've earned on our credit card. That should be here early in the week and we will go buy the supplies we need to extend our herb garden, and also buy the seedlings/seeds we've determined need to go in.

I'm excited ! I feel like this is something we can do and I look forward to once our plants are established and producing fruit !!

Do you have a garden ? What do you grow ?
What has been your biggest success in your garden ? I'd love to know ...

who wants to have a peek in our garden ?

Photobucket

the snow peas are fruiting like mad
we go out and pick and eat snow peas straight off the plant every day
they are so crisp and sweet !
help yourself ... there are plenty ...

some of you commented that you didn't know coriander bloomed
well, i don't know i you can call it blooming, even though i did
technically, it's called flowering
once it flowers, the leaves aren't that great to eat
but ... you get the seeds out of the flowers which you can use to grow more coriander
or you can grind to make ...

wait for it ...

ground coriander !!!

we've got roma tomatoes
