Straight Out of Garden ... and Camera

Photobucket

Enjoy your weekend everybody !

I'll sure be enjoying mine ... Rory has Monday and Tuesday off from work, and the kidlets have two weeks off from school and you better believe we're going to be enjoying the beautiful SPRING days !

Alia is better now ... her neck is back to normal. Thank goodness ! I took her for her hearing test on Friday too. Had I told you all about that ? We've had a few concerns with her hearing. At first I thought it might have been 'selective' hearing ... she is five, after all. But, the things she was 'selecting' not to hear didn't make sense. Plus, it didn't really ring true with Alia's character. The doctor, after a couple of visits from me, finally sent us to get a proper hearing test. She did so well. The results are that she has temporary hearing loss due to slight congestion in her right ear and fluid buildup in her left. The hearing in her right ear is still within the 'normal' range but the left is way below. We have to go back to the doctor next week to see what he wants to do about it ...

It was really interesting to watch the test and to listen to the explanation after. She was able to test Alia's nerves ... the ones in her ears ... and see that they are still doing what they should be doing which is how she knows the hearing loss is temporary and not permanent. Amazing, eh ?

I should wrap this up. Rory just woke up after his sleep in ... hooray for long weekends !!!

Marvelous picture
Nothing like a tomato from the garden - My DH has been growing tomatoes and basil this year and I have been making loads of yummy tamato basil soup
How much better these are than the one from the store
And so thrilled to hear about the hearing test as well

I'm very pleased that there is no major concern for Alia and her ears, also that her neck is doing a lot better.

Happy holidays. We start ours 1 week after you.

Glad that the hearing loss is a temporary thing. Kids don't need another excuse not to listen to us :)

I hope little Alia's hearing gets better very soon. What a worrisome thing for your family! At least the news is reassuring.

That cherry tomato looks so yummy. I have a bunch to eat at home too. YOu don't need sweets when you have yummy ripened cherry tomatoes!

I love the simplicity of that photo. It's just beautiful!

Buddy had temporary hearing loss when he was four in both ears and was on the edge of permanent hearing loss. He had some scar tissue from all the ear infections and such, and had a vacuum effect in his ears from the pressure due to sinus stuff. We weren't even aware of it. He'd had one set of tubes when he was eight months old (a whole other story!!!) and they stayed in for a long time. The doctor decided he needed another set to relieve the pressure when the oral decongestant did not.

A little more to the story, but his ears are fine now, other than the selective hearing that comes with the male gene pool and being a teenager this week. :)
