{from sidewalk chalk to sushi picnics}

peeking out the window the other day, i saw this ...
the kids decorating the 'side of the house patio' with copious amounts of sidewalk chalk
they love to do things together
this morning they were in their bedroom for at least 15 minutes just chatting
and reading
jono reading to alia
i love it
i especially love when they do a 'project'
like this sidewalk chalk
or the dollhouse we, well, mostly they are building

Photobucket

each tuesday jono has to present show and tell
now, it's not show and tell like i remember it, where you picked a toy or something
maybe a hairless stuffed animal with the eyes picked off
(his name was Beary and i loved him !!)
these days, it's more like a project and it's themed to go along with the unit for the term
this term's unit is gardens
remember the poems ?
anyway, last week he had to do 'garden art'
he decided (on his own, mind you !) that he wanted to paint a paper
fold it over so it got onto the other half
let it dry and then cut out flowers
he did just that and then glued them onto a bigger paper
he also painted stems, leaves and grass

i love how it turned out ...

friday nights are pizza/movie night around here
sometimes the movie choices are slim so we opt for game night instead
and sometimes we don't have pizza
but we still call it pizza/movie night and we all know what we mean
'family time'
every friday night !!

this friday night
we didn't have pizza
we had a make your own sushi picnic
we all love sushi and who doesn't love a good picnic ?
especially in front of a good G rated action flick
city of ember
was this weeks choice
actually ... i just checked and it is rated PG
it was good
we enjoyed it

rory's hanging out in the family room and i'm going to go join him !!

He obviously got his artistic talent from you- that picture is great!!
We love doing picnics too- there's just something special about it!
Ours never go to sushi though- I am too much of a wimp to try it :)

See now that painting is one of those forever and ever keepers :)
I too love reading about how your kids love one another... they love to read and create! Ok, so here is a question for ya! Do you have video games and TV daily for them in your home? how long each day?
The reason I ask is because I wonder if video games and tv stunt creativity and just connectedness, you know? Them with each other...

What fun is that sushi picnic! So so fun! Love how you love your family!

Hugs...

happy breakfast! one commentage coming right up!
can i just tell you much i miss having carpet picnics? when we were little we used to have tea parties on the floor of the hallway by the kitchen. and by "tea" I mean "water in which we put sugar smuggled from said kitchen!"

how was that? good comment?

My goodness you have two very creative and talented kids! I LOVE the flower picture that Jono did...tell him that I might need one to decorate my bathroom if he's still feeling the creative juices flowing! :-)

Thanks for the longer post :-) Love the pictures...love the updates :-) LOVE YOU!!

I've never heard of a sushi picnic before but it certainly is a wonderful idea.

The flowers turned out beautiful!
We just had sushi Monday night. Katelyn's roommate came over and made it for us. I loved it. Too bad others in my family (Cheri) are too wimpy to try it. They don't know what they're missing!!

mmm a sushi picnic sounds nice! and that movie didn't look too bad for us adults...maybe a tad bit cheesy...but not too much that I couldn't handle it. Jeff on the other-hand, not too sure he could get through it. lol Maybe it's a good thing we don't have kids

LOVE LOVE Jono's Art! He is talented and not lazy at all when it comes to creating hey? Very good job indeed!!

I LOVE Jono's artwork! It is fantastic! And your sushi picnic looks so fun! We'll have to check out City of Ember.

I know I am like 22 years old, but I LOVED that movie! We watched it the other night. :-)

And you are such an inspiring mum Bonnie. I totally want to be like you one day. :-)
