precious gems ...
jono and i have been having an ongoing discussion about opals
at the museum the other day we saw a display on precious gems
this furthered our discussion but this time i was able to point to the display as i explained
and then on the way to the train station we saw an opal dealer
and we talked again about the stones in the window
this morning he came running in from the back patio
asking if i thought this could be an opal
he found it in the back yard ...

Wow- that's quite the find. I don't know if it's an opal or not- but it sure is beautiful!
treasure is found closer by than people sometimes think....

Wow - that is a beautiful stone. Good for Jono!
Well, I'd say that is quite a find. I just have quartz and boring stones in our back yard - many of which I should know the names of but quickly forgot after the rocks and minerals unit was completed. Boy, I hope my kids have a better retention rate than I do!
Now that's a great find and I think that is an Agate, but I could be wrong.
Either way it's beautiful :)
That's a wonderful find, whatever it is!

Opals are my birthstone and I think they're so pretty :)
How quickly he learns and how beautiful your childrens' responses are to the opportunities you give them.
