I could give you suggestions all day, but in the end you have to live there. Are you a modern lover, Asian...do you want to use the African pillow as a base?

The couches will pretty much go with anything, so decide what you want to center the room around and design from there. Pick a color or two from the painting or the pillow and then use it for the walls.

Once you have the color scheme and the style chosen, go to some antique stores or discount ones and try to find something that will go with it.Stacyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07464318343985100834noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6813083514279997327.post-90489466328682328162009-06-30T07:43:13.164+10:002009-06-30T07:43:13.164+10:00Great sofas and floors and I love the painting. A big carpet an a round coffee table in dark wood. Some lighting and maybe a small table besides the sofa fronting the camera.malohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05364822656870051883noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6813083514279997327.post-12973518431041005312009-06-30T07:14:28.730+10:002009-06-30T07:14:28.730+10:00What a great space!! I'm not a fan of glass due to the pure fact that, well, it's glass and the fingerprints.

I would for sure to a rug. It would help define that area. Kind of like an anchor.

The painting is going to be killer there!! I would pull colors from it that you like for pillows, rug, etc to pull it all together.

Maybe play around with the placement of the couches and see what feels best. It looks like a big space with many options.

How fun!! Can't wait to see what you come up with!Palmer and Cohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14422412149238050696noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6813083514279997327.post-12714856793661315432009-06-30T06:02:27.055+10:002009-06-30T06:02:27.055+10:00Oh and btw I'd paint that drk brown wooden sla...Oh and btw I'd paint that drk brown wooden slab that segregates the sitting area from the kitchen the same sage green I made the walls in my revamped photo...just so that all of the sitting area is peaceful.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6813083514279997327.post-56884970693264824692009-06-30T05:58:29.741+10:002009-06-30T05:58:29.741+10:00Oh the brown pillows I changed to a dark green to ...Oh the brown pillows I changed to a dark green to match the ceiling color.

When the wall paint is darker it tends to make the room look smaller and therefore cozier.

I chose that color for the couches because it's a mix of the red and yellow in the Africa pillow.

And plus I think that creme colored afgan looks REALLY nice with that color on the couch!

For paintings, or wall hangings, I'd go with creamy pastels, or black and whites.

Aw this was so much fun!! lol THX again.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6813083514279997327.post-53071142242504432622009-06-30T05:54:12.304+10:002009-06-30T05:54:12.304+10:00Nice large room!! I did up some colors for you in ...Nice large room!! I did up some colors for you in photoshop [link below] let me know what you think?

I would also recommend putting a floral tropical plant in the corner of the couches. with an end stand [to put your tea on].

A rug might be good too, but I don't think it's necessary [although it would make the room look a lot smaller/cozier].

If you do get a rug make sure it's a solid plain design. That painting [not sure what it will look like but if it has all those colors in it] it is very busy! And so is the Africa pillow [I would have one or the other in that room] the couch's new color I gave it ties those two busy colors together I think though.

So if you were to get a rug it should be a nice dark green to match the walls! And if you get a coffee table or end tables they should be a nice creme color to match your wall trim.

Plus if you could find a tropical plant that had nice creme flowers that would tie the whole room together.

Thank-you for letting me have some fun with your room! :) Hope I helped some what.

The Room Revamped :)Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6813083514279997327.post-32329388919909634802009-06-30T03:47:49.471+10:002009-06-30T03:47:49.471+10:00I would probably have the sofas face each other. ...I would probably have the sofas face each other. If you have room, take the one off the door wall and have it back to the counter area, leaving a walk space. If not, I'd take the sofa off the picture wall (leaving the picture) and have it face the other one. Then you can do a rug in between with a coffee table on it. I'd do a wood in the same tones as the wood in your kitchen that I saw on the half counter wall.

For the rug I wouldn't go too busy because of your painting...maybe some large block square pattern in colors to match the painting. I think you need color because of all the neutral in the room. I think swirls and pattern would be fighting against your beautiful painting.

I think you said you were moving some things over to that other blank wall, like the shelf that was by the glass door. I would do that, and maybe have another matching or coordinating rug in front of that door. It could be smaller, or a runner.

I said all that and I'm no decorator either. :)Kayrenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08735245416162284974noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6813083514279997327.post-13801732368196186962009-06-29T14:13:05.893+10:002009-06-29T14:13:05.893+10:00I hope Rachel visits... :) She has great decoratin...I hope Rachel visits... :) She has great decorating sense! It might be nice to have one in the 'middle-ish' of the room, against the dining table. But obviously not AGAINST it- just in that area. That way you create more of a new space.

I know that leaves a blank space against the wall, but it might be nice to put a complimenting painting against that, or in the future get a cabinet to display some items in...

I think the painting will look GREAT there! And a nice timber coffee table, with a rug underneath would be brilliant.

I'd choose one colour from the painting, and use that as the main colour of the rug. Possibly the blue.T'liahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14571451036872496582noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6813083514279997327.post-19206105053313457302009-06-29T07:26:53.209+10:002009-06-29T07:26:53.209+10:00I totally agree that you need a big rug with some ...I totally agree that you need a big rug with some of the colors of the painting to draw everything together.Cherihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06350979855715095268noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6813083514279997327.post-67452514305642808292009-06-29T06:35:34.270+10:002009-06-29T06:35:34.270+10:00oh those a really nice. i´m in the midst of trying...oh those a really nice. i´m in the midst of trying to convince jorge that we need a new sofa... i´ll keep you posted. i think a coffee table is a good idea. maybe in dark wood.?. i really have no idea also. it would be like the blind leading the blind. but i do love what you´ve done so far!:)janehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11848025993329729577noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6813083514279997327.post-41732815339735782072009-06-29T05:25:20.064+10:002009-06-29T05:25:20.064+10:00Nice to see more of your home :-) Lovely couches....Nice to see more of your home :-) Lovely couches. Yes definately a rug, something with earthy tones that pick up the colours in your painting and blend with the other interior colours. Maybe a neutralish rug with a gentle pattern (maybe some lines or swirls in it) with red, blue and brown?

A couple of houseplants, that flourish of green with beautiful pots which again pick out the colour of your painting would
'knit' this lovely room together too.

Looks pretty.
